The ‘scientific’ consensus is that the Earth is some billions of years old (on the order of four-and-a-half billion years old) and that the Universe is some fourteen or so billion years old. But Scripture paints a different picture. Which may, should, or _must_ the Christian believe? Is the contention of the so-called ‘scientific community’ even reasonable? Which is to say: Does it stand up to scrutiny? Knowledge is warranted true belief, and so it is vitally important to ask upon what warrant the scientists base their beliefs. As we will show in this episode, the Christian position is — unequivocally — that the Earth is ancient in terms of created age and young (some six thousand or so years) in terms of chronological age and that God created all things in six literal, twenty-four-hour days. As to the supposedly ‘scientific’ position? Well, it does not stand up particularly well under scrutiny. ### Show Notes - [Hexameron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexameron) [Wikipedia] - #### See Also - [“Geochronologically Speaking”](https://coreyjmahler.com/geochronologically-speaking/) - [“James Tour: The Origin of Life Has Not Been Explained”](https://youtu.be/r4sP1E1Jd_Y) [YouTube] - [“James Tour & Stephen Meyer Bring Clarity to the Origin of Life Debate (Ep. 1)”](https://youtu.be/Qte8NX4R8MY) [YouTube] - [Discover Science](https://www.youtube.com/@DiscoveryScienceChannel) [YouTube Channel] - [“Copying and Pasting Passwords”](https://coreyjmahler.com/copying-and-pasting-passwords/) - (Relevant for the math involved in the latter part of the episode.) - [Creation.com](https://creation.com/) - [CreationWiki.com](https://www.creationwiki.org/) #### Further Reading - [Cosmic background radiation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_background_radiation) [Wikipedia] - [DNA](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA) [Wikipedia] - [RNA](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RNA) [Wikipedia] - [mRNA](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messenger_RNA) [Wikipedia] - [Chirality](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chirality) [Wikipedia] - [“The Significance of Chirality in Drug Design and Development”](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5765859/) - [“Nature's mirror: The code for chirality”](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/02/160208124237.htm) - [“Understanding the Thalidomide Chirality in Biological Processes by the Self-disproportionation of Enantiomers”](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-35457-6) - [Amino Acid](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amino_acid) [Wikipedia] - [Abiogenesis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis) [Wikipedia] - [Neo-Darwinism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Darwinism) [Wikipedia] - [Modern Synthesis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_synthesis_(20th_century)) [Wikipedia] - [Hard Problem of Consciousness](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_problem_of_consciousness) [Wikipedia] - [Qualia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualia) [Wikipedia] - [Probability](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability) [Wikipedia] - Blood Clotting - [“How it all starts: initiation of the clotting cascade”](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4826570/) - [“Coagulation Cascade”](https://www.osmosis.org/answers/coagulation-cascade) - [Coagulation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coagulation) [Wikipedia] - Vision - [Visual Phototransduction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_phototransduction) [Wikipedia] - [“Phototransduction”](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK10806/) - [Labeling of Fertilizer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labeling_of_fertilizer) [Wikipedia] - [Deoxyribose](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deoxyribose) [Wikipedia] - [Organophosphate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organophosphate) [Wikipedia] ##### Books - [_Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution_](https://amzn.to/47GwNBk?tag=omnifora-20) by Michael Behe - [_Theistic Evolution: A Scientific, Philosophical, and Theological Critique_](https://amzn.to/3YPO2fA?tag=omnifora-20) edited by J.
