Individualistic Ojbections to National Socialism
Reasoning:
Me and some of the other rw guys at church have been trying to talk one of the guys who reasonably on-side about government care for the poor under a future National Socialist government in America. He has a highly individualistic outlook on politics as has various objections. He objections in brief are.
- Socialism (of any form) isn’t in the Bible. The sentiment expressed behind “if a man will not work, neither let him eat” and the very non-egalitarian nature of God’s created world are both arguments against it, with natural law sealing the deal for me (as revealed in socialist experiments).
- Envy and discontentment drive us to want what others have.
- I will fight anything that involves forcibly taking money away from my children / grandchildren to enrich someone else, which is what wealth redistribution already does to me.
- If I have to steal a dollar from a richer man to feed my wife and kids, then perhaps I am not ready for a wife and kids.
- According to the NT, the church must also care for its widows and orphans. I think if you are outside the church, you should have no recourse. Beyond your physical family, the church should be the social safety net. No church, you get a hard landing.
- I would never deny providing for members of my same household. But yes, I do not lift a finger to help random members of my race that I don’t know, and nor should I. Ordo amoris.
We’ve tried to explain “If a man does not care for the members of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” and that your race is an extended family, but we’re not getting through. I’ve told him to listen to the Love: Family, Friends, Tribe, and Nation episode, but wanted to get your thoughts this. (I’m also aware the Persuasion episode comes into play too.) I’m aware of all the problems here, but am having trouble explaining this well.
