Should we use hymns written by women?

Is our hymnody a form of teaching within the Church, and if so, should we refrain from utilizing hymn texts that were written by women?

Our modern lutheran hymnals all include hymns texts written by women (Charlotte Elliott “Just as I am,” Frances Ridley Havergal “Take My Life and Let It Be”), but historically the corpus of lutheran hymnody all came from male writers, sometimes with women contributing as translators.
